A way oiler system automatically lubricates the machine’s sliding components (the ways), ensuring smooth motion and preventing premature wear. Simultaneously, the coolant system delivers a high-pressure stream of fluid to the cutting zone. This coolant performs several vital functions: it reduces heat to prevent workpiece distortion, lubricates the cutting edge to improve tool life, and flushes away the sharp, hot chips that could otherwise ruin a machined surface.

Enhancing Capability and Automation

As shops strive for greater productivity, accessories that add axes of motion or enable “lights-out” manufacturing become vital. A 4th or 5th axis rotary table allows the machine to index the workpiece, enabling complex geometries to be machined in a single setup. This eliminates the inaccuracies that occur when a part must be manually repositioned.

On the automation front, accessories like IoT relays and automatic drawbars streamline operations. An IoT relay can be programmed to turn on a vacuum or dust collection system automatically when a program starts. A powered drawbar, meanwhile, allows the spindle to grip and release tools hydraulically or pneumatically, a prerequisite for any automatic tool-changing system.

Safety and Workspace Management

Finally, accessories play a key role in safety and cleanliness. Machine enclosures contain the spray of coolant and the high-velocity projectiles of metal chips, protecting the operator. For machining materials like carbon fiber or wood, a powerful dust collection system is essential for health and safety, as well as for keeping the machine’s precision components free from abrasive debris.
